A little history… Rose quartz jewellery was first crafted by the Assyrians around 800 – 600 BC. Thought of as a stone for beauty and a symbol of love, it is known as the “love stone” to balance the emotions and heal disappointment. Believed to have magical powers, the Ancient Romans, Egyptians and Greeks all used quartz crystals as potent talismans. The Romans used rose quartz as a seal to signify ownership, Ancient Greek myths depict rose quartz as a symbol of passion and adoration. The Ancient Egyptians believed the stone was closely linked to Goddess Isis and had restorative qualities to heal skin and prevent ageing. Rock Crystal was given its name by ancient Greek philosopher Theophrastus – derived from the Greek ‘crystallos’. Believed to embolden its wearer and remove stress, the Romans loved to use Rock Crystal for making jewellery. The Ancient Greeks believed that the Gods only drank ambrosia and nectar from Crystal goblets.
