What It Is: Wearable history for today and decades to come. These drop earrings feature small Ancient Egyptian faience Scarab amulets, c. 200-300 B.C. with modern 18K gold.

A little history… Scarabs were a symbol of rebirth, immortality, transformation and protection. The Egyptian god Khepri, Ra as the rising sun, was often depicted as a scarab beetle or as a scarab beetle-headed man. Primarily amulets, they were also inscribed for use as personal or administrative seals or were incorporated into jewellery.
Egyptian Faience: In Ancient Egypt objects created with Faience were considered magical… the turquoise/blue colour glaze linked to the undying shimmer of the sun and powers of rebirth. Egyptian Faience is the oldest known glazed ceramic and was first developed more than 6000 years ago in Mesopotamia.
