A little history… The Eye of Horus, also known as Wedjat Eye, is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good health. Horus was the ancient Egyptian sky god who was usually depicted as a falcon. His right eye was associated with the sun god, Ra. The eye symbol represents the marking around the eye of the falcon, sometimes depicted with a “teardrop” marking found below the eye – which is beautifully represented in this necklace with a stunning blue sapphire.

Egyptian Faience: In Ancient Egypt objects created with Faience were considered magical… the blue/turquoise colour glaze linked to the undying shimmer of the sun and powers of rebirth. Egyptian Faience is the oldest known glazed ceramic and was first developed more than 6000 years ago in Mesopotamia.
