Summer 2018 Make-up & Beauty Trends:

With Summer just around the corner, a few different beauty trends are emerging. Following in the footsteps of SS18 catwalk shows, the latest makeup looks making a buzz cover lips, eyes and face.

As the temperature changes and holidays beckon, dip into new beauty ideas, pressing refresh on your makeup bag too. Look no further for five trends taking pride of place this season.

 Glitter

Glitter is currently big news, across both beauty and fashion. Proving this trend need not be restricted to the festive season, add a pop of sparkle and rejuvenate any makeup look.

To add a subtle glitter note, I love sweeping the SUQQU Designing Colour Eyes palette in Yellow x Champagne (£46) across my lids. This classic quartet incorporates timeless tones, also providing a sparkling shadow which softly glitters. SUQQU’s highly pigmented shades stay put and are an eyeshadow essential for your makeup bag.

Bright eye makeup

If you dare to debut brighter eyeshadow, this trend is one for you. Encompassing bold colours such as coral and turquoise, catwalks were awash with bright eyes. Peacock was a predominant trend, with models wearing shadow culminating in a flick at the side.

Pick up a NARS Velvet Shadow Stick (£21), building up colour and working this trend to suit you. Layer with a powder shadow or wear alone, bringing delightful beauty drama. Finish your bold shadow with an upwards flick, completing this vibrant look.

Bold black eyeliner

Should classic black eyeliner be more your thing, fear not, as this trend is also huge at the moment. Bold lines were spotted, as well as intricate flicks and artistic eyeliner shapes. Pair with a red lip for timeless beauty chic or go nude and keep things super simple.

To create a precise line, Charlotte Tilbury The Feline Flick (£22) liquid eyeliner in Panther is completely fool proof. Complete with ultra-fine tip, you can draw on either a delicate or thicker line depending on which angle you take. Gently apply the pointed tip of the brush for a fine shape or build up with bolder strokes.

A natural base

Heavy makeup that consists of contouring and a strong brow seems to be being put to one side for the time being. Perfectly aligned with Summer, a natural beauty base is reigning supreme again. Embrace this foundation inspiration and simplify your makeup application routine.

Add a couple of drops of multipurpose Goddess Argan Beauty Oil (£40) to your moisturiser for a dewy glow. Then prep your skin with the ultimate primer. Shop Daniel Sandler Silky Skin Pro-Finish Primer (£22.50) for a beautifully flawless look. Light and natural, embrace a minimal base without compromising on coverage.

High shine lips

From one extreme to the other, intergalactic beauty has been working its way into trend lists for a little while now. Evolving into high shine lips this season, there are several ways to encompass a glossy look.

For low-maintenance lips, Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector (£18.50) is an ideal handbag go-to. Apply over lipstick or alone, achieving a natural sheen which can be intensified with more product. Available in several different colours, choose the shade which best suits you.
